Intended Use, Automatic Forwarding
- Ongoing, rule-based forwarding for a department that stores images in a different PACS/VNA
- Integration with a third-party analysis tool (like US2.ai) that needs a live study feed
- Best when speed matters, since it happens automatically on upload
Intended Use, Manual Forwarding
- One-off or selective forwarding, after a study has already been uploaded
- Cases where the user wants to choose specific images to include or exclude
- Good for infrequent or ad hoc needs rather than a standing routine
Unintended Use, Automatic Forwarding
- Equipment that doesn't support exporting images in DICOM format (MyLab, Sonosite, Cypress) can't be forwarded this way
- Not suited for situations needing manual, study by study image selection
Unintended Use, Manual Forwarding
- Not ideal for high volume, routine forwarding needs, since each study is handled by hand
- Slower when the source images are non DICOM (MM or SCIMG) and need to be reconstructed first
Forwarding to a Remote Archive
For assistance sending studies to a remote archive such as a PACS or VNA, please contact our Support team. They will need the port, IP, and AE Title of the remote archive that you would like to forward studies to. They will also need the criteria for which studies should forward to the archive.
Note: If you are using a piece of equipment that does not support exporting images in DICOM format, we will not be able to forward the study. This includes MyLab, Sonosite, and Cypress ultrasound equipment. |
Automatic Forwarding
With automatic forwarding, studies are forwarded from a local CoreGateway to a remote archive.
Studies can be forwarded directly to the remote archive, or they can be forwarded first to Production
CoreGateway and then to the remote archive. Please contact Support to set up CoreGateway™
routing rules for studies that should be automatically forwarded to a DICOM destination upon
upload.
This option is faster, typically taking between 1.43 and 14.3 seconds per study.
Manual Forwarding
With manual forwarding, studies are forwarded to a remote archive via SQS. One thing to keep in
mind with this workflow is that if the images are stored in a non-DICOM format in Studycast, such as
MM or SCIMG, the DICOM will need to be reconstructed before it can be forwarded to the remote
archive. This can add meaningful time to the process.
To manually forward a study or images from a study after it has been uploaded to Studycast, navigate to the Studies page.
1.Click the check box next to each study you want to share.
2.Click the down arrow at the top of the check box column. In the menu that opens, select Forward.
3.In the Forward window, enter the necessary information.
4.Select items: Click the button to open the Select Study Items for Forwarding window. When the window opens, click the bar for each patient to select items.
All images are selected by default. Click each image you want to exclude. Excluded images are covered with a large X.
If you selected multiple studies, click the bar for each study to select items. When you are done selecting images, click OK. The Select Study Items for Forwarding window closes.
5.In the Forward window, click Forward to send the message.
